All-around excellence

Hill remained the centrepiece of the Pistons through the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season, starting all 50 games and averaging 21.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists. Named to the All-NBA Second Team, he was one of the league's most complete forwards.

He was one of only 11 players in NBA history to lead his team in points, rebounds and assists in a single season. Detroit went 29-21 and lost a tight first-round series to Atlanta in five games.

Taking the hobby to the 'net

As the information superhighway exploded in popularity, Fleer/Skybox released this iconic insert.

A nod to this new Internet thing, featuring 15 scoring legends known for screaming their way taking the ball to the net. Kind of like our 56K modems at the time screaming each time we hit the ‘net.

Fleer completely embraced the concept, giving each player a faux email address, using photography of most players aggressively taking it to the net and even including a fan mail message on the back of each card.

These cards are a true late 90’s internet time capsule that’ll bring back memories for anyone who was a basketball fan during the era of dial-up modems, chat rooms and the early days of the World Wide Web.
